Privacy Policy for SafePlay Video Player(ios) | Kids Safe Video Player(Android)
Last Updated: August 2, 2026
SafePlay Video Player(ios) | Kids Safe Video Player ("we," "our," or "the App") is a parent-controlled, offline-first video player that lets a parent or guardian curate a safe library of videos for their child to watch. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is used, and the choices available to you when you use the App on Android and iOS.
In short: Kids Safe Video Player is built "offline-first." There is no user account, no sign-up, and no company server that stores your family's data. Profiles, video libraries, screen-time settings, and watch history are stored only on your device. We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or tracking SDKs.
1. Information We Collect
Because the App does not require an account, we do not collect information on a remote server. The following information is created by the parent/guardian and stored locally on the device, inside the App's private storage area:
Parent PIN: The 4-digit PIN you create to lock/unlock "Parent Mode" is encrypted and stored locally using the device's secure storage (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain). We never see or transmit your PIN.
Biometric Unlock: If you choose Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint unlock for Parent Mode, authentication is handled entirely by your device's operating system. The App never accesses, collects, or stores your biometric data — it only receives a yes/no confirmation from the OS.
Child Profile Information: The name and avatar (a built-in illustration, or optionally a photo you choose) you create for each child profile. This is used only to personalize the on-device experience and is never uploaded anywhere.
Video Library Data: File paths of local video files on your device that you assign to a profile, and/or the video IDs of any YouTube videos you choose to add to a group. No video content itself is collected by us.
Screen-Time & Watch Activity: Screen-time limits you configure, and playback analytics (which videos were watched, for how long, and whether they were completed) so the in-app Parent Dashboard can show viewing summaries. This history stays in the local database on the device.
2. How We Use Information
Personalizing Child Mode: To show the correct child's name, avatar, assigned video groups, and screen-time limit.
Parental Dashboard & Analytics: To generate on-device charts and summaries (e.g., total watch time, most-watched videos) that are visible only to the parent inside the App.
Content Curation: To let a parent scan the device for local video files and organize them, or add YouTube videos, into Groups (e.g., "Cartoons," "Learning") for a specific child.
Parental Gate: The PIN/biometric lock ensures only the parent can exit Child Mode, change settings, or make purchases.
3. Third-Party Services
We do not use advertising networks, third-party analytics/tracking SDKs, or crash-reporting services. The only outside services the App interacts with are:
YouTube Playback (optional): If a parent chooses to add a YouTube video to a group, the App streams that video by loading YouTube's player. When a YouTube video is played, Google/YouTube may receive standard technical data (such as IP address and device information) to deliver the video, in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service. This only happens for videos the parent has explicitly added — the App itself does not send any child profile data to YouTube/Google.
Apple App Store & Google Play Billing: Optional subscriptions and passes are processed directly by Apple's and Google's official in-app purchase systems. We do not collect, see, or store your payment card details. Purchase status (e.g., "Premium unlocked") is stored only on your device.
We do not sell, rent, or share your family's data with data brokers or advertisers.
4. Device Permissions
To function correctly, the App may request the following device permissions. You can review or revoke these at any time in your device settings, though some features may stop working:
Photos / Videos / Media Storage: To let a parent scan the device for local video files and select cover/profile images. Access is used only to read the files you choose — it is not uploaded.
Camera: Optional — only used if a parent chooses to take a new profile photo for a child.
Face ID / Biometrics: Used solely to quickly unlock Parent Mode instead of typing the PIN.
Internet / Network: Used only to (a) process App Store/Play Store purchases, and (b) stream a YouTube video if a parent has added one. The App does not require internet access to play locally stored videos.
Screen Pinning (Android) / Guided Access (iOS): Optional "Kiosk Mode" that locks the device to the App during a child's viewing session. This is a device-level OS feature; no data about this is collected by us.
5. Data Storage and Security
Offline-First, On-Device Storage: All App data — profiles, video library metadata, screen-time settings, and watch history — is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. We do not operate a backend server, and we do not transmit or store this data on any cloud infrastructure owned by us. Your Parent PIN is additionally protected using your device's hardware-backed secure storage (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain). Because there is no remote account, no one but the person holding the device can access this information through the App.
6. Data Retention & Your Rights (Deletion)
You are always in full control of your family's data:
In-App Deletion: A parent can delete individual child profiles, video groups, videos, or clear watch history at any time from Parent Mode settings.
Uninstall = Full Deletion: Since all data is stored locally, uninstalling the App permanently and immediately deletes every profile, video assignment, PIN, and watch history record from that device. There is no copy left on any server, because we never had one.
No Account to Delete: Because the App does not create a user account or send personal data to us, there is no separate "account deletion request" needed — removing the App removes your data.
Formal Deletion Request: If you would still like to submit a formal request regarding your data (for example, to confirm no data is retained by us), you may use our request form below.
Requests are processed within 7 business days. You can also reach us directly at mepandiyan@gmail.com.
7. Children's Privacy
Kids Safe Video Player is designed to be set up and controlled by a parent or guardian, with a PIN/biometric "parental gate" protecting settings, video curation, and purchases. The child using Child Mode does not create an account, does not enter any personal information, and cannot access the internet directly through the App except to play a video the parent has specifically added.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
The App contains no third-party advertising and no behavioral-advertising or analytics SDKs of any kind — nothing in the App tracks a child across other apps or websites.
Any information associated with a child profile (name, avatar, watch history) is created by the parent, stored only on the parent's own device, and never transmitted to us or to third parties.
If a parent adds YouTube content to a child's library, playback of that specific video is subject to Google/YouTube's own privacy practices as described in Section 3. Parents should review YouTube's policies and choose content accordingly.
This design is intended to align with the FTC's Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Google Play's Families Policy, and Apple App Store guidelines for apps used by children under parental supervision. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information outside of the parental controls described here, please contact us at the email below and we will promptly investigate and delete it.
8. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA and Similar Laws)
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because Kids Safe Video Player does not transmit personal data to us or store it outside your device, exercising these rights is as simple as using the in-app deletion tools described in Section 6, or uninstalling the App. If you have questions about how this applies to you, contact us using the details below.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
